Sorry that I have fallen behind. We have been traveling and settling into Inaki’s home in Spain and did not have a good chance to post. We hopefully get caught up today.
In our final day in Bangkok we got very touristy and went to some of the main places tourists go in Bangkok…the Grand Palace and Temple of Dawn. It had some the hottest weather we had in Thailand and definitely the biggest crowds. We started by driving downtown. We parked and walked toward the entrance to the Grand Palace. As we neared the entrance I became very dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out (I had been battling digestive issues for the last four days and had eaten little over those four days). We went into a store with a sitting area where Tari and Kate left me in air conditioning to rest and stay cool while they went into the Grand Palace.
They had a great time exploring the Grand Palace. Most of the palaces you can visit there are outside. They walked around for over an hour and even found a museum that had lots of exhibits and examples about fabrics. Tari really enjoyed that. I am going to let her write the captions below since I wasn’t there to learn about the things in the pictures they took.

After a short rest for Tari and Kate we walked to a boat dock and took a short ferry ride across the river to the Temple of Dawn (Wan Sot). We walked around the temple for a short time but it was very crowded and still hot.

After we left the Temple of Dawn Kate treated us to a two-hour full body Thai massage. I had never had a massage before so I was a little intimidated. However, the massages were wonderful and very relaxing. The massages included a location to shower after the massage so that we could feel clean and ready to fly to Spain (our flight left at 11:40 pm from the Bangkok airport). It was a great final activity.
We found a restaurant next to the massage parlor that had a great view of the Temple of Dawn. I was also feeling much better after taking an antibiotic the night before for my digestive issues (I strongly recommend bringing a dose of antibiotic for digestive issues when traveling…it cleared it up very quickly…we got the antibiotics from our doctor before we left). We had a great dinner and I even ate a little that evening. Kate then took us to the airport and we flew from Bangkok to Bilbao overnight (with a change of plans in Vienna, Austria, early the next morning).
