We drove from Bangkok to Chumphon today to see a different part of Thailand and to spend some time along the coast. Our drive was about six hours long and we made a couple of stops along the way for a walking break and lunch. Kate’s car is an electric vehicle (EV) so we charged it while we ate lunch. We then arrived in Chumphon around 3:45 pm and checked into our AirBnB. Our AirBnB is on Chumphon Bay which is a small bay off the Gulf of Thailand. We experience low tide here during the day and high tide at night so we have to walk about 100 yards out to reach water. However, we have our own little private beach and a nice, but small, house to hang out in. It is rainy season here in Thailand and it looks like we are going to have overcast skies and intermittent rain for our time here in Chumphon. We will make the most of it anyways. Had a nice dinner at a busy local restaurant last night. We started at a nice table along the beach but were chased inside by rain. Still had a nice dinner.

Lunch! We had sticky rice, pork, chicken, and fruit for lunch. Many of the items were leftover from breakfast. Kate’s mom, Nee, is traveling with us for the next few days. Fun to have her along.

Lights in the water at dusk. The green lights on the water are squid fishermen. The put the green lights out to attract the phytoplankton, which attracts zooplankton, which attracts fish, which attracts the squid the fishermen are after.
Hard rain drove us under the cover of the roof in the restaurant. The restaurant is still open air so you could feel the cool breeze from the rain.
