Day 22 – July 17 – Bright, Victoria

We had a lighter day today and definitely needed it. We walked to town and I rented a road bike for the week. Temperatures are in the 30’s at night…

We had a lighter day today and definitely needed it. We walked to town and I rented a road bike for the week. Temperatures are in the 30’s at night but 50’s during the day, so it makes for a pleasant ride during the middle of the day. I spent the afternoon doing a 15-mile bike ride and helping with laundry. Tari spent the afternoon finishing up the laundry and went back to town to visit some of the other shops (there is a quilting shop in town she loves). We will go down to the Farmers Market later this morning. We had a nice dinner of salad, roasted potatoes, and sausages that I grilled here at our timeshare.

Was able to wish my brother, Anthony, a happy birthday, when it was still July 16th where he lived. Was a special treat.

My “hired” (how they say rented in Australia) bike for the week. I rode on the Bennets trail to Wandiligong for my first ride.

Bridge of Morses Creek in Wandiligong. Creek was pretty high. Snowmelt from higher elevations and recent rains filling the creek.
Found the Bright Croquet Club today. No one was playing or I might have joined them. Obviously croquet is a big deal here in Australia.
I rode past an area where they do tandem parasailing. Saw these three high up on the slopes of the mountain. Not planning on doing the parasailing.
Ovens River here in Bright. Many of the bike trails and walking trails go along the river.

Cool artwork along the bike trail. The sign says “Skunk Control” but there are no skunks in Australia. Must mean something else??? Liked the artwork though.
