Today we drove up to the north shore of the island of Hawai’i. We drove through the warmest and driest part of the island and into the town of Hawi (pronounced Haa-vee). We drove out to the Polulu Valley lookout to see big cliffs and a lush valley. We drove back to Hawi and had shaved ice in Hawi. Next, we went through the wet and lush Kohala region to the town of Waimea. From there we drove out to the Waipi’o overlook to see the dramatic view of cliffs and valley of kings. Then it was back through Waimea to Kona. It was amazing to see the climate changes in different parts of the island as we started along a dry, hot coast and ended up in cool, lush, rainforest. Truly an amazing experience.

We drove to areas where King Kamehameha, the king who united all the Hawaiian islands, was born and came to power.

Is it possible to enlarge the photographs? I’ve tried clicking on them, and haven’t been able to get that to work. I’m probably doing something wrong so a little help would be appreciated. The pictures are great.
I figured it out! You should be able to zoom in on all pictures now! I also figured out how to put pictures of higher quality in the blog. The previous posts will still have the lower quality pictures but future posts should have higher quality pictures and you should be able to zoom into them. I am slowly getting better!
